Dr Organic Aloe Vera Toothpaste Review

A few years ago, after reading about the link between SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and mouth ulcers, I started searching online for SLS free toothpastes.
I came across Dr Organic – if you haven’t heard of it before, it’s a toiletry brand with products made from organic, natural ingredients and no harsh chemicals or mineral oils. I went with this range as it’s available on the high street at Holland and Barrett, so hoped it would be a trustworthy brand.
Dr Organics has many different ranges such as Aloe Vera, Pomegranate and Tea Tree to name a few. I chose the Dr Organic Aloe Vera Toothpaste as it claims to be a ‘whitening’ toothpaste.

Texture
I have to admit I was a little dubious about how effective the toothpaste would be, as SLS acts as a foaming agent. So I wasn’t expecting Dr Organics Aloe Vera Toothpaste to foam up as well as my previous toothpaste. How wrong was I?! It is a softer and less abrasive toothpaste than the likes of Oral B and Arm and Hammer, but it does foam up enough to give your teeth a thorough clean.

Taste
Surprisingly this toothpaste tastes pleasant and very minty.

Cleanliness
This toothpaste definitely leaves my teeth feeling clean with a manual toothbrush and when I use my electric toothbrush, it’s even better. This toothpaste leaves me with that dentist clean feeling when I run my tongue around my teeth and I feel my breath is fresher (I also give my tongue a quick scrub with it).

Whitening
I can visibly see that my teeth look whiter after using this toothpaste, but I don’t feel it’s a long lasting whitening, more immediately after use for a couple of hours or so.

Overall
I think is product is reasonably priced as organic toothpastes tend to be pricey. It’s currently £4.29 for the 100ml tube, but you can sometimes get it on special offer.
I chose this toothpaste in the hope that it would reduce the occurrence of my mouth ulcers and it has, but I’m not sure if it really is because it’s SLS free, a placebo effect, or other changes in my life, environmental, or otherwise. So I will open a forum, as I’d love to hear from others if SLS free toothpastes have improved your mouth ulcers. Or if you have also used this product?

Rating
5/5 – I actually love this product, tell anyone with mouth ulcers about it and should be on commission for it!
